How did a team that qualified for EURO 2004 become the level of the likes of San Marino, Malta and Liechtenstein? Anyone who follows European international football will know the names of nations that spring to mind when looking who to avoid on your football coupon. San Marino, Andorra, Moldova to name a few of the regulars who are a likely pick on the handicap market but a new European minnow seems to have joined the usual suspects. Latvia, 16 years ago one of the best 16 teams in Europe now find themselves below Luxembourg, Kazakhstan and Kosovo in the current FIFA rankings in what has been a huge decline as the 21st century continues.  While Greece got all the headlines after winning against all odds at EURO 2004, Latvia was another underdog story of the tournament. Remit ✅ Plan?

Pictured: Forest owner, Evangalos Marinakis It’s Friday night in West Yorkshire and the Nottingham Forest players trudge off the pitch in Huddersfield after another defeat which makes Forest, winless in 10. Despite nearly changing the whole side on this particular evening, the result is still the same. The performance is also vastly similar. No tempo, no link-up between the midfield and attack leaving striker, Lyle Taylor completely isolated, no urgency to get back into the game and most importantly, no points along with no goals and not even a shot on target when Forest went behind. The Reds have faced QPR, Cardiff and Huddersfield in the league so far and haven’t yet even managed to lay a glove on any of them. Without the wins against Forest, these 3 have took 1 point (QPR’s home draw with Boro) out of a possible 18 from the rest of their games. The reading is far from good.
